The Jean Monnet Chair<\/a> of the Faculty of Law of Barcelona University (UB) has launched for next year a new diploma in Private European Law<\/a> (see folder<\/a>) with the support of the European Commission. The programme<\/a>, which will be taught during the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017, is divided into the following modules:<\/p>\n

Module 1. History of European Integration and the constitutional framework of Private Law (Prof. L. Huici)<\/p>\n

Module 2. Competition Law (Profs S. Rating and Y. Mart\u00ednez \u2013that\u2019s us, indeed ;-))<\/p>\n

Module 3. How Private Law has become European (Profs. E. Arroyo and G. Garriga)<\/p>\n

Module 4. European consumer law of contracts (Profs. M. Anderson, L. Arnau and M. Navarro)<\/p>\n

Module 5. Workshop on applied legal analysis and report drafting<\/p>\n

The course will be eminently practical, i.e. aiming at providing a useful tool for the practice of Private Law to recent graduates and\/or professionals at the beginning of their careers. The course stands out among the academic offer in Barcelona because:<\/p>\n

– as regards content, there is no equivalent academic offer in town;<\/p>\n

– the learning method will consist in case studies and debate with the students;<\/p>\n

– to allow professionals to attend, it will be taught in the evening (18-21h) two days a week; and<\/p>\n

– academic professionals and private practitioners will be teaching.<\/p>\n

To sum up, if you think that your studies lacked a deeper course in European Union Law and\/or once in a job you realised that the EU is more relevant than you thought it would, then this is a course for you.
