{"id":1748,"date":"2016-09-15T17:58:30","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T17:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ratinglegis.eu\/en\/?p=1748"},"modified":"2016-09-19T14:49:43","modified_gmt":"2016-09-19T14:49:43","slug":"back-to-school-it-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ratinglegis.eu\/en\/back-to-school-it-is\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to school it is!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year, for the first time, the Observatory on Bioethics and Law at the University of Barcelona offers a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bioeticayderecho.ub.edu\/en\/food\/master-food-ethics-and-law-60-credits\">Masters course on Food Ethics and Law (MAED<\/a>, by the Spanish acronym). It is a (the very first) university post-graduate programme which combines legal, political and ethical aspects of food production and distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Particularly targeting professionals in the food industry with a technical background (e.g., chemistry, food science and technology, nutrition and dietetics, agronomist engineering, etc.), the course aims at providing students with<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; training to ensure compliance of their products with European and national rules and regulations;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; a critical perspective on the ethical and social implications of the existing technologies in the market; and<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; a multidisciplinary overview of food sector regulations so as to assess whether any innovations are acceptable and legally viable.<\/p>\n<p>The faculty includes academics from the University of Barcelona\u2019s Medicine and Law Faculties; food industry professionals; and representatives of the Administration. Just to give you a hint, there will be specialists from <a href=\"http:\/\/deoleo.com\/?lang=en\">DEOLEO<\/a>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/agricultura.gencat.cat\/ca\/inici\/\">Catalan Government<\/a>, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aecosan.msssi.gob.es\/AECOSAN\/web\/home\/aecosan_inicio.htm\">AECOSAN<\/a> and from several biotech research and development centres\u2026 and\u2026 yes, so will we!<\/p>\n<p>As you know, we deal a lot with issues relating to the <a href=\"http:\/\/ratinglegis.eu\/en\/alimentaria-regulatory-measures\/\">Food Supply Chain Act<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/ratinglegis.eu\/en\/chain-of-good-intentions\/\">Code of Good Practice for Contracts in the Supply Chain<\/a>, so we are thrilled to participate in this innovative project.
